Earth Improvements employs a more cost effective, as well as environmentally friendly process of land clearing and vegetation removal. We utilize methods that grind the vegetation into mulch that is left behind to blend with the topsoil. Our land clearing techniques also eliminate the need of using heavy equipment to haul away any remaining debris. As a result, this vegetation removal process reduces the risk of soil erosion and leads to a healthy reforesting land surface. HIGH GRADE TOPSOIL AND COMPOST
At Earth Improvements, we only produce and sell high quality grades of topsoil and compost. We screen our topsoil with 3/8” screens that remove any large rocks, pebbles and sticks from the soil to ensure a premium and viable end product. Most other topsoil production companies use larger screens which allow bigger pieces of debris to blend within the soil mixture. Our debris screening method is superior as a result and creates topsoil that provides an excellent medium for land development and future vegetation growth. After using our superior screening method, we then add a specially formulated compost mixture, that we produce and harvest ourselves over a one to one and a half year period, to ensure an end topsoil product of the highest quality. Our compost production process uses a three part formula, that when mixed with the topsoil, creates a rich and darker looking medium that grass, trees and plants will grow and thrive in.
Earth Improvements’ Three Part Compost Formula:
• Part 1 :: Cow manure
• Part 2 :: Horse manure and sawdust mixture
• Part 3 :: Ground green waste, which is a mixture of wood shavings and
ground vegetation, not including grass clippings, which often
contain pesticides and herbicides.
As you can see, by blending our soil with our specialized compost, we produce a topsoil mixture that is the perfect medium for lush plant growth. We manufacture two different quality grades of topsoil and compost mixtures for sale in bulk quantities for our customers to choose from.
Basic Grade :: Soil mixture is composed of 80% topsoil and 20% compost material.
Premium Grade :: Soil mixture is composed of 60% topsoil and 40% compost material.

STUMP GRINDING
Stump Grinding is the least destructive and cost effective way to eliminate tree stumps that remain behind during the land clearing process. By grinding the stumps below ground level, it allows for effective repair and replanting. Grinding the old stumps and roots to below ground level will not disturb the surrounding area and will only require re-vegetation where the stump was located. The traditional method of stump removal requires a large excavator to dig the stump out of the ground. This is very destructive, disturbing a much larger area around the stump and leaves the intact stump behind, which must be disposed of.

LOG PROCESSING
Earth Improvements specializes in the thinning and preservation of forest land on private and commercial properties. Large scale logging companies are unqualified to do smaller operations and developments due to the fact that their equipment is too big. Large equipment operators, while efficient, can do significant damage to the terrain and vegetation, by leaving tracks which affect appearance and may even lead to soil erosion.
Our techniques for forest thinning are environmentally friendly and will result in an aesthetically pleasing property, that is safe for individuals and wildlife. In order to be cost effective for small scale projects, we use equipment that is very fast, efficient and also leaves fewer tracks that will limit soil erosion and damage to the land around it.

PINE BEETLE MITIGATION
At Earth Improvements, we handle the removal of the trees infected with and killed by pine beetles. Our skilled team focuses on maintaining a natural landscape by preserving the desirable trees on your property that have not yet been infested with pine beetles, while selectively removing the unwanted, infected vegetation. Saving the desirable “keeper trees” will help to maintain your property value and support redevelopment of new vegetation.
The simple removal of the affected trees, however, is not enough. Pine beetles can survive up to several inches below the ground level, so stump grinding is necessary to make sure that the pine beetles do not return from the root of the tree. We go the extra mile and grind all the affected tree stumps to fully address the beetle infestation problem.
Traditional methods of pine beetle mitigation often leave your property looking devastated with branches, tree-tops, scarred land and machine tracks, which can be left behind. Our methods of beetle mitigation are performed using equipment that will not damage your property.
